Sanremo
Sanremo is located in-between Monaco to the west and Genoa to the east. This town is steeped in history, it was once a Roman settlement and it has many ancient buildings to explore. The fortress of Santa Tecla, which is situated on the beach near to the port, is currently being transformed into a museum.
Sanremo is a popular tourist destination, however it’s other main form of income is through the production of extra virgin olive oil.
The closest airport to Sanremo is in France, the Cote d’Azur International Airport at Nice, which is located 75 miles away by car or train.
Genoa
Genoa is the capital of the region of Liguria and the sixth largest city in Italy. Part of the old town of Genoa was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2006. The city’s rich cultural history in art, music and cuisine allowed it to become the 2004 European Capital of Culture. Genoa is also the birthplace of Christopher Columbus.
The city of Genoa covers a large area of 243 square kilometres / 94 square miles which stretches from the Ligurian Sea to the Apennine Mountains.
This historic Italian city is fascinating. It is worth arriving a few days prior to your charter to explore the ancient buildings and palaces. There is also the beautiful Viletta Di Negro park located in the heart of the town, which overlooks the historical centre. The beautiful promenade, which was built in 1908, overlooks the sea, towards Portofino.
Genoa has an excellent port and marina facility that is home to many luxury charter yachts when they are not on charter. This is the perfect location to meet your yacht, prior to cruising down the Ligurian coastline.
Portofino
Portofino on the Italian Riviera started out as a charming fishing village, and it is often referred to as the St Tropez of the Italian Riviera. It is situated on the rugged Ligurian coast in the Western Mediterranean. Its popularity has grown over the years and it is now a famous port of call for luxury charter yachts and superyachts to visit each summer.
This tiny quaint town has a lot to offer its visitors. With picture perfect scenary not only of the colourfully painted town, but also of the views out to sea; its excellent restaurants and its tiny boutiques are just a few things that this town has to offer.
The restaurants and cafes located around the port are a firm favorite with the tourists. Here they can view the luxury yachts as they come in to moor in this pretty fishing port. The Italian cuisine and wines served in the local restaurants is outstanding.

La Spezia
La Spezia is located at the head of the Gulf of La Spezia in the Liguria region of northern Italy. It is the second largest city in the region, proceded by Genoa. It is one of the main Italian military and commercial harbours and it hosts the arsenal of the Italian Navy.
The old town offers many museums, the recently restored Castle of San Giorgio, numerous churches, Art Nouveau style villas, and its Public Gardens.

When To Visit
The main Western Mediterranean yachting season runs from April until the end of October, however the peak time is July and August when all of the ports that you will visit on your cruise will be very busy with tourists both on land and on other luxury yachts. For a quieter vacation you may want to consider chartering in either June or September when the water temperature has warmed up slightly, however the summer crowds have not yet arrived.
