Motor yachts have one significant feature, speed! They can go around the islands a lot faster than a sailing yacht. They carry a large inventory of water sports equipment for example, support dinghy, offshore tender, jet-skis, Diver Propulsion Vehicles (DPVs) for use when diving.  This is in addition to the water sports equipment found on sailing yachts like water skies, wakeboards, donuts, kneeboards and eco-friendly water sports equipment such as snorkeling equipment onboard, kayaks and stand-up-paddleboards, or SUPs as they are known.  The latest water sports equipment for this season is a waterslide that fits onto the side of your motor yacht, and if that isn’t enough you can have an inflatable climbing wall on the opposite side of your motor yacht, great fun for the kids of all ages!

Also proving very popular with guests is the floating drinks and chill out island, that floats off the stern of your charter yacht.  These islands normally accommodate six guests with comfortable inflatable chairs to recline in, a cooler for your beers and an iPod docking station so you can listen to your favorite sounds as you float around in the sunshine admiring your beautiful charter yacht that’s at anchor in front of you.  And the ultimate toy for your Superyacht is a floating swimming pool with a mesh protective bottom.  This really isn’t necessary in the Caribbean, though we we do know certain yachts have them installed.  The pools are useful if you were considering a sailing vacation in Australia or other distant shores where jellyfish can be an issue.

Chartering a motor yacht of any size is more expensive than chartering a sailing yacht because the terms of the contract are always “plus all.”  This means that on top of the charter fee for your yacht, you will have to pay for the fuel for the vessels, food and beverages, dockage, taxes & cruising permits, etc.  We can explain the additional charges to you so you have a good estimate in advance.  On charter yachts that are on a plus all contract you will normally pay an Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA) which covers the additional costs of the fuel and bar, etc. This is calculated at an additional 30% of the charter fee which is added to the Yacht Charter Agreement.  The final account will be presented to the client at the end of the charter.

Motor yachts available for a crewed yacht charter start at around 58 ft with manufacturers such as Sunseeker & Hatteras, increasing in size to include manufacturers such as Azimut, President & the popular Westport yachts to bespoke custom built Superyachts such as Feadship, Icon & Benetti with yachts exceeding 300 ft that offer luxurious guest accommodation and a full compliment of professional yacht crew to look after you.  Generally the majority of motor yachts are licensed to carry a maximum of 12 guests, this is due to the strict commercial safety requirements.  If your party is larger than 12 guests we can advise you of the motor yachts that can accommodate your group.
