Exploring the Windward Islands from St Lucia to the Grenadines on a Caribbean Crewed Yacht Charter
Are you ready to explore the Windward Islands this winter? Regardless of the type of crewed charter yacht that you prefer, be it a motor yacht, a catamaran or a monohull sailing yacht you can explore all of these fabulous islands. Here we going to suggest a 7-night travel itinerary to give you an idea of what the islands offer.
Several USA airlines now offer direct flights directly to Hewanorra Airport in St Lucia, and from the UK both British Airways and Virgin offer direct flights. We will arrange a taxi to meet you at the airport and to drive you to Marigot Bay Marina where your luxury yacht will be waiting for you. After being welcomed aboard your yacht you will set sail for the Pitons a truly amazing location where you will spend the evening moored beneath these truly majestic mountains which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy dinner aboard your yacht beneath the stars its fantastic!
After breakfast set sail for the pretty St Vincent and the Grenadines Island called Bequia. Anchor off Princess Margaret Beach and enjoy great snorkeling straight from the beach. Bequia is home to a turtle sanctuary that is well worth a visit. This island is very laid back and not commercialized at all. Stroll down the tiny main street where fruit stalls line the street. There are numerous great dive sites along the wall heading down to Moon Hole, the incredible private estate built in the 1950’s into the stone cliff. These days only a few of these houses are habitable, even so they are amazing.
Now it’s time to sail to Mustique the private island where the rich and famous hang out. Celebrities like Mick Jagger, Robbie Williams & the late David Bowie own luxury villas on this island. This Caribbean gem used to be a favorite of the late Princess Margaret the Queen of England’s sister, and is still a firm favorite with Prince William & Kate. The perfect spot for lunch ashore is the Cotton House, here you can dine on the beach, it is fantastic! Enjoy a sundowner cocktail at the famous Basils Bar where you can look at your yacht anchored in the bay. Next morning why not hire a Mule a petrol Golf Cart and drive around the island and visit the beaches on the windward side of the island, they’re wild and beautiful.
Set sail to the next island in the Grenadines this time it’s Canouan, here you have a choice of anchoring in Charlestown Bay or visiting the brand new Glossy Bay Marina. For the golfers aboard your yacht there is a fantastic 18 hole Jim Fazio Golf Course which offers stunning views from the elevated tees on this tiny island and a stunning resort called Pink Sands that looks out straight over the reef.
Now it’s time to sail to Tobago Cays to swim with turtles and to explore the tiny uninhabited islands that surround this anchorage and form part of the marine park. Your charter yacht will anchor just inside the Worlds End Reef it’s stunning! Spend the evening star glazing in this unique anchorage as you dine on cuisine cooked especially for you, by your very own private chef.
After breakfast and a morning dip it’s time to sail a short distance to the tiny island of Petit St Vincent (PSV). After lunch your crew can take you to the tiny Robinson Crusoe Island called Mopion, the perfect spot to enjoy a few beers or a glass of champagne as you like back and enjoy the surf lapping around your toes.
Now it’s time to explore another fantastic island, this time set sail to Chatham Bay on Union Island. This pretty crescent shaped beach offers great snorkeling and several tiny local beach bars where you can stroll barefoot along the beach and stop for a sundowner.
Its now the final morning of your Grenadines vacation so after breakfast your charter yacht will motor around to anchor in Clifton Bay on Union Island where you can depart your yacht. The airport is only a 5 minutes taxi ride and here you can catch a small island hopper back to St Lucia to catch your international flight home.
